This course covers all aspects of illustration and aims to enable students to respond to a variety of briefs, working to deadlines. .
What The Course is About:
The course covers all aspects of book illustration and aims to enable students to respond to a variety of briefs, creative exercises and live industry competitions and support with your own narrative projects.
The course is great for students who have either completed the Introduction to Illustration course, students who’ve already had some experience of drawing/painting or design and want to explore illustration, or for students who have already done a bit of illustration but want to explore their style or prepare a portfolio.
Students will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of ways of working including drawing based media such as pen and wash, printmaking techniques and collage. There is also the opportunity for drawing days either in the studio or out on location.
Sessions start with a discussion of student work in response to the current brief. This is an opportunity for everyone to be inspired by each other’s work and learn from your peers in a constructive manner. You’ll be introduced to lots of examples of leading illustrators and ways of working to inspire you.
As we encourage each student to work at their own pace and to develop in a direction appropriate to themselves, much of the class teaching is in one to one tutorials. This course gives you plenty of feedback and inspiration from your tutors, Jane Porter and Sophie Ambrose. Both are published author illustrators with a wealth of industry experience to share. www.janeporter.co.uk www.sophieambrose.co.uk
