In the first part of the term we will look at the big elements of landscape – sky, water and land and how they can be understood in pictorial terms through shape, rhythm and tone together with different approaches to mark making and picture composition. We will focus on how the shifting and transient Phenomena of weather, light, rippling and flowing water as well as our own shifting viewpoints can be given form and substance through drawing with a variety of media. In the second half the focus will shift from the Macro to the micro and we will focus on such things as trees, plants, rocks and stones. As well as textures and colours of things seen in close up. In your personal response to these you will be encouraged to bring together elements of both the Macro and micro.
