Lino Printing (All Levels)

A  print workshop where you will learn essential skills in lino cutting and printing. With an experienced printmaker guiding you through carving and printing your own block print using a relief press or hand-printing techniques.

What The Course is About:

A  print workshop where you will learn essential skills in lino cutting and printing. An introduction to creating and using textures and overlays to form composition, colour mixing and overlaying. Students will start by experimenting with lino cutting tools and ink to explore a variety of marks for print, before moving on to design and print their own images. You will learn a range of cutting techniques and the tutor will demonstrate how to use mark making to create a vocabulary of texture to be incorporated into your own design.

 

Materials Required:

Materials: Black & coloured inks, newsprint & press will be provided but please bring: - Large metal or wooden spoon to burnish with - An apron and choose clothes that you don't mind getting dirty - note book & pen - Basic art materials: pencil, rubber, Sharpie, biro. - Interesting objects to scratch into the lino with - Any lino printing tools (if you have them)

The following materials are available to buy from PSAD: - Soft cut lino or double sided green & blue lino - Thin assorted colour printing paper, tissue for chine collée, Japanese Koso paper, thin cartridge , brown parcel paper, copier etc. - Small portfolio

Previous Experience:

Suitable for beginners and those more experienced students who wish to expand on their knowledge

End of course:

You will be guided through the techniques and processes and come away with the skills required to continue this practice at home or the studio. Having attained a level of technical skill, you will be able to develop further through personal projects.
