NEW Experimenting with Colour

This practical course is ideal for beginner students with a little drawing experience, for those interested in design and colour, or students who’d like to gain confidence and improve their use of colour in different mediums.

What The Course is About:

This practical course will start with mixing colours and understanding colour relationships. There’ll be a mix of exercises and projects where new materials are introduced, such as colour pencils, mixed media, collage and different paints and some simple printing. For each new project, you’ll have demos, handouts or see examples of artist’s work to inspire you. The course is designed to be taken a term at a time, or complete all 3 terms to gain confidence and a good understanding of using colour.

This course is for you if: • You’ve done some drawing and want to learn to paint • You are interested in design and want to explore colour • You’d like your art to have more depth and balance

Student feedback for Experimenting with Colour: “I feel I have received a greater awareness of how to mix acrylic paints and more understanding of various techniques, ie: analogous, warm, opposites, complementary. Sophie is a very knowledgeable & enthusiastic tutor” Patricia Wond

“My understanding of the uses and application of colour has improved dramatically. From a standing start, ie. no experience of using acrylics, I have a complete set of reference points to use colour in my personal work and also in observing and appreciating the work of others!” Nick Ives
