NEW Mixed Media with Oils & Acrylic Paint (All Levels)

Whether you’re new to painting or exploring new methods in your practice, this class is for you. The course begins with a review of colour theory as it relates to layering, mixing and glazing paint.

What The Course is About:

Whether you're new to painting or exploring new methods in your practice, this class is for you. The course begins with a review of colour theory as it relates to layering, mixing and glazing paint. Next, we will learn how to get the most out of acrylic paints by these same methods and adding mediums. Acrylic is a great way to paint fast and loose and can also be used as a base for oil painting. After exploring how to get the most of acrylics, we will add the use of oil paint to create first structured and then individual projects.

The long- term objective is to have students composing and painting original works in either one or both mediums. Composition will be a big part of the class.

Materials Required:

Materials for first class...

Acrylic tubes: Titanium White, Ultramarine or Phthalo blue, Cadmium Red and Cadmium Yellow Med

Some kind of acrylic "extender"
Synthetic brushes for acrylic painting and any palette knives you may have
Surfaces: Smaller surfaces to begin with including Acrylic sketch pad or canvas boards (inexpensive and available in the shop)
water containers,
masking tape and paper towels

Previous Experience:

All Levels - Beginners to painting are welcome, but some drawing experience will help you to get more form this course.

End of course:

You will learn to use a range of mixed media techniques with Oils and Acrylic Paints. You will have the opportunity to create quick studies and finished art works.
