Raquel Amat Parra trained in Fine Art at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, and completed a Master of Fine Art specialising in Printmaking at The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland, where she was awarded a degree with Honours.
She has received multiple Arts Council of Northern Ireland awards, including SIAP and Artist in Residence funding, and has undertaken international residencies, including at the Guanlan Original Printmaking Base in Shenzhen, China. Her work has been exhibited widely across the UK, Europe, and Asia, including selection for the Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibition Award at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, and is held in the collection of the China Printmaking Museum. Her writing on printmaking has been published in Printmaking Today magazine, on the Mokulito technical process. Following her postgraduate studies, where her research focused on experimental and expanded approaches to printmaking, her practice continues to explore printmaking as a site of material investigation, layering, and repetition, often extending into sculpture, bookbinding, and three-dimensional forms through analogue and digital processes. She explores imagery and composition as a way to cross the traditional boundaries of printmaking language.
Raquel teaches printmaking and bookbinding and has held academic and technical posts at Ulster University, Belfast School of Art, including Lecturer in Fine Art Printmaking. She has also taught at institutions and workshops across the UK, supporting both undergraduate education and community-based learning for over 10 years.
