The course aims to explore a variety of drawing and painting media.
What The Course is About:
The course aims to explore drawing and painting media in depth; beginning with drawing techniques using pencil and charcoal to explore line, tone and structure then introducing colour and further mark making techniques with pastels, watercolour, gouache, ink and wash.
Materials Required:
What to bring to the first session: For the first few sessions we will explore drawing, using charcoal and pencils. If you have drawing materials, pencils, charcoal, eraser, paper, please bring them. Paper for charcoal and pencil. Kitchen Towel. We will then proceed to chalk pastels (Available in the schools shop) on tinted paper and for another session we will explore oil pastels, sets of which are fairly inexpensive. You can obtain materials as you go along.

What will I achieve? You will learn the basic principles of observational drawing and be shown how to interpret visual information. During the course you will learn mixed media and mark making techniques and paint from a variety of subject matter. The aim of the course is to help you develop your skill as a painter and also improve your drawing skills. It is suitable for any students wanting to improve existing skills as well as for beginners.
