What The Course is About:
This course is ideal for students needing to build a portfolio of course work for GCSE or A Level, and possibly becoming part of a portfolio for art school. Some students have used the sessions as an opportunity to extend a school project.
Materials Required:
What to bring
some sketching pencils HB, 2B, 6B, pencil sharpener and eraser
putty rubber and charcoal/chalk (buy a box of willow charcoal which is better value and better for sketching than charcoal pencils)
A3 hardback sketchbook (like GCSE/A level sketchbook)
black ink
short handled 'round' synthetic brush approx size 6 - 8
water based paint (acrylic, or poster)
titanium white. mars black, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue and cadmium red.
Please only bring these colours as you'll be taught to mix many colours!
a palette knife for mixing paint
A disposable tear off palette pad or a LARGE plastic palette
Your own roll of kitchen paper or old rags to clean brushes and palette knife as this is not provided at psad.
The school shop is also available at competitive prices should you need further materials.
