Oct Half Term: 2 Days: Portrait Drawing & Painting (All Levels)

A two-day intensive course working with varied approaches to portrait drawing.

What The Course is About:

Through drawing and painting we aim to embed and reinforce core observational skills. We will look at the anatomy of the head and see how that relates to the features by examining the structural and anatomical relationships. We will examine the comparative tonal values and see how they form the architecture of the head by giving volume to form and showing how light and shade describe form and adds to the drama of the image. Through painting we will show how tonal values translate into colour by using a limited palette and see how colour mixing is informed by colour theory to create paintings that show both the vibrancy of colour while still showing tonality.

Materials Required:

Materials: Pencils, charcoal and putty rubber, Oil paint/ water colours/ acrylic and brushes etc.

Previous Experience:

The course will be suitable for beginners and students with experience.

End of course:

What will I achieve? At the end of the course you will have gained mastery of capturing the likeness, composition, proportion, perspective and colour mixing while building a personal style using medium or mediums of your choice.
