What The Course is About:

A one-day workshop exploring chalk pastels. Known for its vibrant effects, chalk pastel is a great medium, combining colour and drawing with an expressive immediacy. We will be working from landscape images and you will learn and develop pastel techniques beginning with a broad approach to suggesting details. If you enjoy drawing but feel that colour is something that you wish to add to your repertoire, chalk pastel is an ideal medium for you.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: Bring to the first class chalk and oil pastels you possess; paper and further items can be purchased from the school shop.

End of course:

What will I achieve? The course will include the opportunity to experiment with different ways of applying the medium as well as papers and surfaces. There will be the opportunity to experiment with a range of subject matter as well as exploring a more abstract method.
