Comics and Graphic Novels

This ten-week course is designed to get you started making short comics of your own, based on daily life, memories and prompts. It also includes the very popular Zine Swap, which has a new theme each term.

What The Course is About:

This ten-week course is designed to teach you the basics of how to develop characters and structure a story, as well as how to get the best from your layout and composition. We’ll also be looking at examples of comics and graphic novels from around the world, and each week there will be opportunities for feedback and sharing of work on our class Padlet. The course is taught by author and illustrator Jane Porter, whose work has twice been longlisted for the Myriad Editions First Graphic Novel Prize. www.janeporter.co.uk

Materials Required:

Basic drawing materials including; pencils, eraser, sharpener, drawing paper etc. You will be provided with additional materials list after the first session.

Previous Experience:

This course is suitable for all levels although some experience of drawing will be beneficial.
