NEW ONLINE Draw and Paint in Mixed Media

An exciting project-based course, exploring expressive ways to create drawings and paintings using mixed media. The course has been specially designed for an online platform with plenty of live demos and consideration for those making work at home.

What The Course is About:

With demos from your tutor and reference to a range of historic and contemporary artists you will learn to use a variety of drawing and painting mediums in combination to create a wide range of expressive art works. Working largely in 2D, though we will make some explorations into expanded, 3Dmixed media works, you will make both quick studies and more sustained, finished artworks. The course is based around a series of projects, with a different theme each term, enabling you to develop techniques and encouraging you to explore concepts and themes. You will have time to share your work with the group and there will also be sessions with time set aside for one to one support.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: Heavy weight cartridge paper, black ink and round ended brush or bamboo brush around size 16+, charcoal, white conte, table with protective cover, water pot, rag. As you will be working from home, your tutor will take into account the type of materials you may have available and can adapt sessions to include these.

Previous Experience:

This course is ideal for some with previous experience, who want to make work from home. First timers to working in mixed media are also welcome as are those new to on-line learning.

End of course:

You will learn to use a range of mixed media techniques to create a series of expressive painting sand drawings based around a different theme each term. You will create quick studies and finished art works. You will have the chance to exhibit some of your work on-line on the PSAD website.
