May Half Term – Landscape Drawing & Painting

Landscape is the focus for an exploration of drawing and painting in a range of media and techniques. Weather permitting, we will go outside for plain air sketching to collect reference material for use back in the studio.

What The Course is About:

Landscape is the focus for an exploration of drawing and painting in a range of media and techniques. Weather permitting, we will go outside for plain air sketching to collect reference material for use back in the studio. We will look briefly at the development of Landscape over time and discuss compositional approaches. The aim will be to produce exciting and personal outcomes.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: Please bring basic drawing materials, including a small sketchbook. Bring watercolours and small, medium and large brushes. Bring watercolour paper, Bockingford 300gsm can be bought at the PSAD shop. Buy a big sheet and cut in two. Alternatively a watercolour block is good. A portable stool would be useful for sketching outside.

End of course:

What will I achieve? You will have a grasp of the essential elements of landscape drawing and painting. You will have developed skills in direct sketching and using photographic reference to develop exciting, personal outcomes. You will have explored a range of media and the different effects possible.
