Summer School – 2 Days: Drypoint and Chine Colle

Suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience. We’ll explore the wide range of mark-making that can be achieved in a drypoint print. Then using a technique called Chine Collé to experiment with adding colour and texture to your prints.

What The Course is About:

An opportunity to explore the exciting results that can be achieved by combining, Drypoint and Chine Collé. Drypoint is a printmaking method that involves scratching a design into a surface using a range of tools, then making a print from the design using a printing press. Chine Collé is a method of adding colour to all or part of your print using Japanese or other thin paper. You will learn each technique and how to combine them to build up layered images.

Materials Required:

Apron, Disposable gloves for inking up. Any light weight papers or tissue papers, book pages etc that you would like to use Sketch books, photos and ideas you would like to work from. Printing papers can be bought from the School shop.

Previous Experience:

Beginners and experienced artists welcome.

End of course:

You will produce single and multiple colour prints on a printing press. You will learn how to combine different methods to achieve desired results. There will be tutor input and support to discuss the use of different techniques in your work.
