What The Course is About:

Photographs offer wonderful opportunities for artists. First and foremost they make available a huge range of object matter. But perhaps more interestingly photographs have particular qualities, viewpoints and sometimes incongruities which the artist can utilise. You will be shown a number of ways to use photographs for making oil paintings, as well as looking at the work of relevant of artists.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: A full materials list will be provided at least two weeks before the start. Paper, Paint and further items can be purchased from the school shop.

Previous Experience:

Some previous experience of oil painting would be useful.

End of course:

What will I achieve? By the end of this course you should be able to... •Transfer photographic images in a number of ways to begin an oil painting. •Use range of oil painting techniques. •Begin to utilise the expressive possibilities of painting from photographs
