Learn to Draw (and all Levels) 3D Campus
This course is aimed at complete beginners who have never drawn or who have not drawn for many years or have no confidence in their drawing and need help and encouragement. Please note that the Learn to Draw session on Tuesday evening is at our 3D Campus and our Thursday afternoon session is at our Oxford Road site.
May Half Term – Learn to Draw – 3D Campus
On this one-day course, you’ll be introduced to some of the basic skills of observational drawing, including line, space, tone and proportion.
May Half Term – Life Drawing (All Levels)
The aim of the course is to encourage students to develop their drawing skills via access to what some consider the most compelling form, the nude and clothed human body.
May Half Term – Portrait Drawing (All Levels)
An intensive one-day course working with varied approaches to portrait drawing.
NEW Digital Illustration: Procreate
This ten week course will provide you with the foundations for using the Procreate App. N.B This is an Online course but students are welcome to use our Digital Suite if they need to, but you will need your own ipad with Procreate installed and an Apple pencil.
NEW Drawing Projects (All Levels)
“Celebrating drawing as the process of seeing made visible” Who is it for? All Levels, as well as those with a little previous experience and those who have been drawing for some time but would like to widen, refresh, broaden and develop their drawing practice.
NEW Experimenting with Colour 3D Campus
This practical course is ideal for beginner students with a little drawing experience, for those interested in design and colour, or students who’d like to gain confidence and improve their use of colour in different mediums.
NEW Mixed Media with Oils & Acrylic Paint (All Levels) 3D Campus
Whether you're new to painting or exploring new methods in your practice, this class is for you. The course begins with a review of colour theory as it relates to layering, mixing and glazing paint.
NEW Oil Painting (All Levels)
This oil painting course is for all levels, for students new to oil painting or with a little experience. Some background knowledge of drawing and painting fundamentals will be useful. For those with more experience in oil painting, we will be analysing artist's techniques and styles, so that you can develop your own paintings and projects. There will be opportunities for the group of differing levels to learn of one another.
NEW Portfolio Preparation 3D Campus
If you wish to develop a good grounding in a variety aspects of painting, drawing and mixed media together with an awareness of contemporary and historical art . In particular those who may wish to put together a portfolio for application to a higher level* course or employment in a related field.
NEW Short Course: Drawing & Painting All Levels – 3D Campus
This course will explore a variety of approaches to drawing and painting using a wide variety of materials and techniques, including pencil, charcoal and chalk, pastels and watercolour and acrylic paints.
NEW Watercolour for Beginners
This course is ideal for beginners who want to learn the essential techniques and approaches of watercolour painting, and to develop skills in using this exciting medium.

Create exciting landscapes through drawing and painting. Explore different approaches to evoke a strong sense of place and feeling.
Oil Painting (Intermediate Level)
This is a practical and ideas-based course. You will learn with the help of tutor demonstrations, groups discussion and individual tutorial guidance.
Open Studio
A new open studio class with PSAD tutor Jane Millar, offers students a chance to work together to develop their art practice and unlock new creativity.
Painting Open Studio (Advanced workshop)
Painting Open Studio is for experienced students or advanced painting skills so that they can work independently.
Painting Projects
Project based course with different themes for each term. Previous projects have included ‘People and Places’ and ‘Cityscapes’.
Short Drawing Courses
You will be able to explore the creative possibilities of drawing, gain confidence and broaden your expectations and understanding of the subject. Each highly focused course will cover slightly different aspects of drawing. For example the function of line, tone, texture, mark making and composition, through carefully structured approaches. On occasion we may spend time drawing in galleries or museums. The courses are suitable for both experienced students and those just beginning their drawing journeys.
Summer School – Good Artists Copy Great Artists Steal: Degas and Late Twentieth-Century British Paintings
‘Take What You Need’ from exploring the works of Degas and Late Twentieth-Century British Paintings. This painting course examines how the work of Edgar Degas influenced late 20th-century British art, from the abstract paintings of Howard Hodgkin to the vivid, human-animal compositions of Francis Bacon.
