Summer School – Abstract Drawing & Collage
This course is designed for beginners with little or no experience, wanting to explore experimental approaches to drawing and collage work.
What The Course is About:
Drawing and collage combines, cutting, pasting, and marking to create mixed-media art that mixes found materials with spontaneous drawing. It involves layering paper, photos, and other medium, often torn for texture, before adding ink or paint. This method, which emphasises intuition, allows for immediate, playful, and expressive compositions We will work and develop your skills and a focus on exploring how to work on 'abstracting' a still life scene and painting it with a focus on colour and form.
Materials Required:
What to bring to the first session: Bring to the first class any drawing materials you possess; collect a range of papers, card, textures i.e. Shiny papers as well as matt and textured. Paint brushes, tape, sandpaper, PVA and a notebook. Further items can be purchased from the school shop.

End of course:
What will I achieve? By the end of the course you will dvelop confidence and inspirtation to develop your your drawing futher. You will learn layering & composition, tearing vs. cutting, subtraction method and surface preparation. The course will help develop your drawing skills and your creative thinking.
