Summer School – Pottery: Glazing Workshop 3D Campus

This course is aimed at students that want to develop or improve their glazing techniques.

What The Course is About:

This course will introduce you to glazes: their composition, the different types, different approaches to glazing, the common pitfalls of glazing, and think about designing your pots for easy glazing. The course will also discuss the importance of kiln atmosphere and temperature, glazing larger items and how to use the spray booth.

Materials Required:

You must have a mask rated FFP1 or 2 (you can buy one from us) to use the spray booth.

Please bring 4 - 8 small or medium size items of bisqueware or test tiles you would like to glaze, if you do not have any bisqueware some will be supplied.

f you are bringing bisqueware made elsewhere you must also bring the exact name of the clay body used - to ensure that it is suitable for our firings.

Larger items not made at Putney may incur a small charge to cover firing costs.

Paint brushes and a notebook are highly recommended.

Previous Experience:

Suitable for students with some ceramic making experience

End of course:

This course will give you practice glazing and make you more confident with glaze selection and techniques to get better results.
